‘A people without the knowledge of their past history, origin and culture is like a tree without roots.’ Marcus Garvey

I have always been fascinated by History and determined to learn more about the world that shapes us as human beings. This inspired me to pursue a degree in History and English, that combined two of my passions. As university was coming to an end, I was fortunate enough to volunteer in my old high school, an experience that showed what an exciting, challenging and fulfilling career teaching is, and motivated me to apply to complete my PGCE at Manchester University in Secondary History teaching, passing as an Outstanding teacher with Distinction. This cemented my passion for my career choice and opened the door to having opportunities to teach in some excellent schools, and refine my teaching and learning style, before starting at King’s.

The ASPIRE values are motivators in my life and my career so far that I have promoted even before starting at King’s and I am looking forward to the opportunities to inspire young minds and promote a love of the past in all the students that walk through the door. I am passionate about giving a voice to the unrepresented in history, and showing that unlocking the past is key to a successful individual.

Outside of school, I am an avid reader and runner, taking my dog out for long runs around the local area at a weekend and I constantly encourage students to find ways to both challenge themselves and improve their metal wellbeing. I love to travel during the school holidays, visiting many historic locations in order to share my experiences with students in the classroom.
