Lucy Cawley

Year Leader

From an early age, I knew that I wanted to work with young people in a social or educational setting, to support them to aspire to be the best that they can be, overcome barriers in their life and be successful.

My career started a few years after graduating from The University of Manchester, I completed various work experience placements in school settings and community venues before securing a job as a Personal Advisor (PA) with Connexions Cheshire and Warrington.  As a PA I worked holistically with young people aged 13 -19, supporting them with education and training and social issues such as drug misuse, homelessness,  sexual health advice and acting as an advocate for them between professional agencies.

In 2012 I was tuped into Warrington Borough Council’s Careers for Young People service, delivering information, advice and guidance to young people aged 16-19 who were not participating in education, employment or training.  I continued with my professional development and achieved L4 NVQ in Advice and Guidance.  I felt I had achieved all I could within this role and therefore wanted a new challenge, ideally in a school setting.

In 2016 I was successful in joining King’s Leadership Academy as a House Leader with the Team Around the Child (TAC) department.  I have fully embraced the ethos of King’s, the Character education, which is supported by the Aspire code and day to day running of the school.  I believe students have the right to achieve, to be able to learn in a safe environment and receive pastoral care to ensure that their wellbeing is being met both inside and outside of school.  King’s provides an excellent platform for every young person to aspire and reach their goal feeling fully supported.
