“Leadership is a potent combination of strategy and character. But if you must be without one, be without strategy.” – General Norman Schwarzkopf
Personal Development through character and leadership education is crucial to the implementation of the ASPIRE values here at Kings. Our Combined Cadet Force is a flagship activity to enable this.
Previous to taking up my role at Kings, I worked at Liverpool College as the Leadership Education Officer.
I have been a Cadet Forces Adult Volunteer for over ten years, starting my career at 1913 (Knotty Ash) Squadron Air Training Corps. Here I found my feet as a CFAV taking on many roles such as Training Officer and Adjutant, finishing here as Deputy Officer Commanding with the rank of Flight Sergeant.
Alongside this I have operated as a member of a number of training teams within the organisation. Delivering Cadet Non Commissioned Officer Courses and Method of Instruction Training as part of the Merseyside Wing Training Team.
As I progressed I developed a real love for “green” training where I took post as the Deputy Fieldcraft Training Officer for Merseyside. The delivery of leadership through the “infantry” model really pushes young people, both mentally and physically to the edges of their comfort zones. Through this maximum effort we are able to bring out the best in our young people.
More recently I have taken on a post as an Instructor with VII (Wales and West) Small Arms Training Team. Here I am responsible for the delivery of adult and senior cadet training in Range and Exercise Management ensuring that safety at all times is paramount.
Upon moving to the CCF at Liverpool College I was promoted to Warrant Officer and took post as the School Staff Instructor and OC RAF Section. Later I took upon the post of Contingent Commander and Commissioned into the RAF Volunteer Reserve.
I have been very fortunate to be a product of the cadet system myself, gaining a Lv3 Award in Educations and Training and working towards a Lv4 Institute of Leadership and Management Qualification.
I am looking forward to the opportunities here within Kings and the wider Great Schools Trust. I am always looking for a new challenge and the opportunity to help young people achieve their aspirations.
