Sophie Brett

Lead Practitioner of PE

I am passionate about physical education, creative subjects and working with young people. It was my desire to teach that led me to study a PE, Sport and Dance Honours degree with Qualified Teacher Status at Liverpool John Moores University.

I believe that PE plays a key role in pupils’ academic, physical, social and moral development, and that setting high standards will assist children in their personal approach to life. I also believe that it is our responsibility to motivate young people to continue lifelong participation in physical activity. This is something that I aim to instil in the pupils at King’s by offering a range of extra-curricular activities and fun, motivating lessons in PE.

I have been a member of the England Lacrosse Squad since the age of 14, representing England at U19, U21 and senior levels. My sporting achievements have also included representing England at three European Championships, and two World Championships, of which I am very proud. As an International athlete I have shown a commitment to my studies as well as dedicating myself to a strict training regime. This has facilitated my development into the resilient, highly driven and self-motivated teacher I am today. I believe these qualities will enable me to guide pupils at King’s in their personal development and aspirations in sport, and instil in them the drive to succeed academically. My ethos is to always encourage the pupils I teach to challenge their potential, develop leadership skills, and show moral integrity.

I truly believe in the ASPIRE ethos and enjoy working with the pupils at King’s in encouraging them to reach their aspirational goals in sport and education.
