“A great artist has to be ready to fail.” - Marina Abramovic
I grew up in Liverpool and went on to study Product Design at the University of Huddersfield, graduating with a First-Class Honours degree. My studies developed my creativity, problem-solving skills and eye for detail, all of which continue to influence my practice as both an artist and a teacher.
After university, I began my career outside of education, first working in sales before moving into the role of a creative designer in the sports industry. During this time, I had the opportunity to work on high-profile projects with major brands and sporting venues, including Wembley Stadium and Old Trafford. This experience gave me valuable insight into the professional creative industries, which I now draw upon to inspire my students.
Looking for a new challenge, I decided to pursue a career in teaching. I did my training at Manchester Metropolitan University to achieve my PGCE in Secondary Art and Design with QTS.
Beginning my teaching career at King’s has been highly rewarding as it allows me to share my passion for art, design and creativity with the next generation. The staff and students have been incredibly welcoming and the creative team have been highly supportive.
