Miss P Garcia Perez

Teacher of Spanish

I am a native Spanish speaker who has lived abroad since the age of 18, an experience that has profoundly shaped both my personal and professional journey. I first moved to Portugal to study at the University of Oporto, where I learned Portuguese, and later moved to the UK to improve my English. What began as a two-year plan became a new life: more than a decade later, my daughter was born here, and the UK has become my home.

Before entering teaching, I worked for over 12 years in the creative and estate industries, developing strong skills in communication, organisation, and leadership. However, I realised that my true passion lay in working with people and inspiring young learners. Having lived, studied, travelled, and worked across different cultures and continents, I have seen firsthand how languages are powerful tools for connecting with local communities, understanding the roots of a place, and feeling competent and confident living and working abroad.

My enthusiasm for teaching languages stems from my personal journey as an educator and parent. I began with private tutoring for children who needed extra support learning a language. Later, while raising my daughter in a bilingual environment, I started teaching her Spanish using creative tools such as songs, flashcards, and games. This experience has shown me the joy and benefits of learning multiple languages and inspired my mission to help students develop both linguistic competence and cultural awareness in an increasingly globalised world.

After completing my PGCE with the University of Sheffield in partnership with the National Modern Languages SCITT, I am proud to bring both professional expertise and cultural insight to my role as a Spanish teacher at Kingsway Leadership Academy. My vision is to ignite students’ curiosity for languages, foster cultural awareness, and help them recognise how language learning can broaden horizons and transform futures—just as it has for me.
