I've always found myself surrounded by English as I journeyed from school to college to university; writing and analysing are skills and hobbies I've centered my life around leading me to study Creative Writing and Drama at Edge Hill University and become the author of the published poetry collection The Truth of the Teenage Mind. Since joining King’s in 2016, I have contributed to the school in a variety of roles, including as a Teaching Scholar and a member of the English Department. Over the years, I have also led the development of Character Education and worked, and lead, extensively on literacy initiatives designed to raise attainment across the school.
Firmly committed to educational equity, I entered the teaching profession with the belief that every young person deserves the same opportunities to succeed, regardless of their background. Education is a transformative force, capable of shaping not only academic success but also resilience, empathy, and confidence. In particular, I feel, English provides students with the skills to think critically, communicate effectively, and engage creatively with the world around them — qualities that are vital both in further study and in life beyond the classroom.
