Mrs S Lawrence

Assistant Vice Principal

I have always admired teachers and parents. I am now lucky enough to be both, at an Academy which is at the forefront of Leadership and Character Education nationally.

Aspiration and endeavour have long been important to me before they were ASPIRE values. I was the first person in the country to achieve a First Class Honours degree on an accelerated degree programme in Geography, where I completed my degree in two years rather than the usual three. This paved the way for me to fulfil my dream of supporting young people in achieving theirs.

I started my teaching career working for a multinational Environmental Services company, leading two Environmental Education Centres within the North West. After two years, I knew that it was time to begin a new and exciting challenge. I was successfully appointed at King’s in 2014, teaching Geography to all year groups and being a form tutor. This mix of experience early in my career, coupled with my desire to support students’ health and wellbeing whilst at King’s, paved the way for my appointment as House Leader.

My day-to-day role at King’s is fast paced and challenging. As part of ‘Team Around The Child’ (TAC), I work to ensure students’ health and wellbeing are well supported, giving them the readiness to learn which is crucial to their success. Ensuring that every single child in the Academy develops the strength of character and resilience to succeed underpins everything I do.

Outside of King’s, I love to spend time with my young family, taking my children to new and exciting places. I enjoy getting out into the great outdoors, with a weekend rarely passing by when I don’t return home muddied! I was once told that “if it doesn’t challenge you, it doesn’t change you”, and know that the ASPIRE ethos at King’s will give our young leaders endless opportunities to find this out for themselves.
