Miss M McDonough

Head of Geography

Understanding the interconnections between the human and physical aspects of our world is both a vital and fascinating skill to develop. Geography is a subject that is constantly evolving and diversifying, meaning our students are constantly forging new synoptic connections across the globe.

Whilst completing my degree in Geography and International Relations at Lancaster University, I worked in secondary schools across the North West assisting students in their aspirations for university. It is this experience, alongside being able to impart Geographical understanding on the leaders of tomorrow that motivated me to become a Geography teacher.

At the heart of my practice is ensuring students have a broad, knowledge-rich understanding of Geography that is delivered through best practice. I take an avid interest in understanding developments in teaching and learning, pedagogy and research. To further my understanding, I am currently studying for a MA in Education - Learning and Teaching at Edge Hill University alongside teaching at King's.

Twinned with good teaching is a vitality of character, and it is an honour to teach at King's Warrington where Character education is at the forefront of the school. As a Duke of Edinburgh Assessor, it is wonderful to see our students develop new skills, experience opportunities beyond the curriculum and become young leaders.

I am proud to work at King's Warrington as students leave enriched with knowledge and an excellent character toolkit to propel them onto their next chapters.
